Dallas has suburban condos all along the north side, from Preston Tower and The Shelton near Highland Park, to the Bonaventure in Far North Dallas. The 1980's brought us The Warrington and The Claridge. Every 20 years or so, another wave of condo buildings appear along Turtle Creek. Some of the buildings here date back to the 1950's and ‘60s, like 3525 - the city’s iconic mid-century modern tower. The stately buildings of Turtle Creek are where Dallas' high-rise condominium market started. Downtown Dallas really came into its own as a residential neighborhood with the redevelopment of the arts district and the introduction of luxury buildings like One Arts Plaza and Museum Tower. It was mainly a place to work, but its status as a residential neighborhood began to change when office towers like 1505 Elm and The Metropolitan began converting to residential. When it comes to downtown, it wasn't long ago that downtown Dallas was a ghost town at night and on the weekends. With all this density, traffic can be a challenge, but many newer buildings are going up in very walkable areas that include grocery staples like Whole Foods plus a number of restaurants and bars. Uptown has more condo units than any other neighborhood and a huge variety of building styles, from lofts like West Village and 1999 McKinney to some of Dallas's most luxurious high-rises like the Ritz-Carlton Residences and the Azure Condos.
